While many national teams are still finalizing which players will be left out of their squads ahead of FIBA EuroBasket 2025, France has already confirmed its 12-man roster.
Following consecutive friendly victories over Spain, head coach Frédéric Fauthoux made the decision to cut Vincent Poirier, who is sidelined with an injury, and Nadir Hifi from the team.
Reflecting on his exit, Poirier, who plays for Paris Basketball, shared heartfelt words: “It’s very hard for me to leave the French group. Proud to have been able to represent France with such a special group. Good luck to you, brothers. Go get the gold.”
With these changes, the French squad that will compete in EuroBasket 2025 is expected to include: Théo Maledon, Sylvain Francisco, Élie Okobo, Isaïa Cordinier, Matthew Strazel, Zaccharie Risacher, Bilal Coulibaly, Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot, Guerschon Yabusele, Jaylen Hoard, Alexandre Sarr, and Mam Jaiteh.
Earlier, Fauthoux also revealed that Moussa Diabaté opted not to rejoin the French team, despite being offered a spot after initially being cut earlier in the summer.
France will enter the tournament without some of its star centers, including Victor Wembanyama, Rudy Gobert, Mathias Lessort, Moustapha Fall, and now Vincent Poirier.
The French team will compete in Group D, facing off against Poland, Slovenia, Israel, Belgium, and Iceland, hoping to make a deep run in the competition.
