The Denver Nuggets are making more adjustments to their coaching staff, hiring Mike Moser as an assistant coach. NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype first reported the move.
Moser comes to Denver after spending the past two seasons with the Houston Rockets under Ime Udoka. He previously worked alongside Udoka with the Boston Celtics during their 2022–23 campaign.
Before his time in Houston, Moser was an assistant with the Dallas Mavericks from 2019 to 2021 and also spent a year coaching with Oregon’s women’s program. His playing career included stints in Europe and the Middle East before moving into coaching full-time.
The Nuggets’ coaching overhaul comes at a significant moment in franchise history. This will be Denver’s 50th season in the NBA and the first without longtime head coach Michael Malone, who was dismissed in April. David Adelman was promoted to head coach in May, taking over after eight years as an assistant on Malone’s staff.
Moser now joins Adelman’s bench alongside assistants J.J. Barea, John Beckett, Rodney Billups, Ryan Bowen, Chase Buford, Jared Dudley, Ognjen Stojakovic, and Elvis Valcarcel. His addition provides Denver with a coach who has worked in multiple NBA systems and gained experience developing players at both the professional and collegiate levels.
The Nuggets have undergone major changes this offseason, including trading Michael Porter Jr. to Brooklyn for Cameron Johnson and acquiring Jonas Valanciūnas from Sacramento. Denver also brought back Bruce Brown on a one-year deal and signed veteran Tim Hardaway Jr. to add depth to the perimeter rotation.
