Charlotte Hornets forward Grant Williams is back in the gym and progressing steadily in his recovery from a major knee injury that ended his 2024-25 season.

Speaking to Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer, Williams said, “I feel great, physically just taking it one day at a time. Rehab is a pretty slow process. There can be good days and bad days, but fortunately, I’m in a position now where I’m getting back on the court in some capacity.”

The 26-year-old has not played since tearing his ACL and meniscus on November 23, 2024, during a late-game drive against the Milwaukee Bucks.

He landed awkwardly after contact with Brook Lopez and had to be helped off the court.

It was a difficult blow during a productive stretch for Williams, who had averaged 13.9 points and 5.1 rebounds in 29 games with Charlotte after being traded from Dallas in February 2024.

The Hornets had acquired him alongside Seth Curry and a 2027 first-round pick in exchange for P.J. Washington and two second-rounders.

Now nearly nine months post-injury, Williams is shooting again and participating in light workouts.

He said that although he’s not cleared for contact yet, he finds “serenity” in being back on the floor and staying competitive, even if it’s only in shooting drills.

“Talk trash. So I’m trying to still find better shooters in the gym to compete against,” he added.

Before the injury, he was averaging a career-best 10.4 points and 5.1 rebounds in the 2024-25 campaign and shooting 36.5% from three-point range.

Originally drafted 22nd overall by Boston in 2019, Williams has appeared in 380 regular season games and 61 playoff contests across six NBA seasons.
