The Charlotte Hornets will be shorthanded when training camp begins in less than two weeks, as two of their veteran contributors remain sidelined due to injuries.

Forward Grant Williams and guard/wing Josh Green are both in the middle of lengthy recovery processes and won’t be ready to take the floor when camp opens.

Williams, who joined the Hornets last summer, has been rehabbing from a torn right ACL and meniscus that he suffered last November, an injury that prematurely ended his season.

Green, meanwhile, is working his way back from left shoulder surgery he underwent in June.

Head coach Charles Lee told reporters that there’s no specific timetable for either player’s return, though he emphasized that both are making solid progress in their rehab.

“They’re both doing well,” Lee said, adding that Williams is currently slightly ahead of Green in the recovery process.

The loss of Williams in particular hurts a Charlotte team that is already somewhat thin in frontcourt depth, leaving them with fewer proven options at power forward and center.

On the wing, however, the Hornets have more flexibility.

The roster features several new faces, including rookies Kon Knueppel, Liam McNeeley, and Sion James, along with second-year forward Brandon Miller, who is expected to return without restrictions after missing the end of last season with a wrist injury.

With Williams and Green both out, training camp will provide extra opportunities for Charlotte’s young players and depth pieces to carve out roles heading into the 2025–26 season.
