The New Orleans Pelicans have officially added free agent guard Jaden Springer to their roster, the team confirmed in a press release.

Springer, the 28th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, began his career with the Philadelphia 76ers but saw limited playing time over two-and-a-half seasons.

He was traded to the Boston Celtics at the 2024 trade deadline, where he remained for about a year before being sent to the Houston Rockets in a salary-shedding move in early 2025.

After being waived by Houston, Springer signed a 10-day contract with the Utah Jazz in February. He impressed during that short stint and earned a two-year deal with the Jazz in March.

However, Utah released him last week before his contract for the 2025–26 season became partially guaranteed.

Primarily recognized for his perimeter defense, Springer hasn’t made a major impact on the offensive end. In 110 career NBA regular-season games, he has averaged 2.9 points and 1.4 rebounds in just under 9 minutes per game.

While he played a more prominent role in the G League during his early years with Philadelphia, he’s appeared in only two NBAGL games since the beginning of the 2023–24 season.

Contract details with New Orleans haven’t been disclosed, but it’s widely assumed to be a minimum-salary deal, though it remains uncertain whether it includes any guaranteed money.

The Pelicans currently have 14 players on standard guaranteed contracts and enough flexibility under the luxury tax threshold to add a 15th player, creating a potential path for Springer to stick with the team into the regular season.

Given his four years of NBA experience, Springer is no longer eligible for a two-way contract.
