The Utah Jazz are locking in Jaden Springer for the long term. NBA insider Shams Charania reported that the 22-year-old guard has signed a three-year contract with the team after a brief stint on a 10-day deal.

Springer has appeared in four games for Utah, averaging 3.5 points, 1 rebound, and 1.3 assists in 8.8 minutes per contest. Despite limited playing time, the Jazz saw enough potential to secure him for the future.

The former first-round pick began the 2024-25 season with the Boston Celtics before being traded to the Houston Rockets on February 6. Houston waived him the same day, leading to his short-term opportunity with Utah.

With the Jazz currently sitting at 15-45, last in the Western Conference, they are prioritizing player development. Signing Springer aligns with their rebuilding efforts as they evaluate young talent for the future.

Springer, known for his defensive tenacity and athleticism, has yet to establish himself as a consistent contributor in the NBA. However, Utah’s investment suggests they believe he can develop into a valuable rotation piece.

Since entering the league as the 28th overall pick in 2021, Springer has struggled to find a permanent role. The Jazz provide a fresh start where he could receive extended minutes in a low-pressure environment.
