The Boston Celtics have moved Jaden Springer ahead of the trade deadline, sending the young guard to the Houston Rockets.
According to NBA insider Shams Charania, Boston is trading Springer and a 2030 second-round pick to Houston. The teams are also swapping heavily protected second-rounders as part of the deal.
Springer, 22, is averaging 1.7 rebounds in just 5.4 minutes per game this season. The former first-round pick is on an expiring four-year, $10 million contract.
Boston is currently second in the Eastern Conference with a 36-15 record. Moving Springer opens up flexibility while securing a future asset.
The Rockets, sitting third in the Western Conference at 32-18, continue to make moves to strengthen their depth. While Springer has played a limited role in Boston, Houston could see potential in his defensive abilities and athleticism.
With the trade deadline approaching, both teams remain in position to make further moves before finalizing their rosters for the postseason push.
