The Los Angeles Lakers have emerged as a team to watch in the Jrue Holiday trade market, according to FastbreakJournal.com, as the franchise continues to evaluate ways to strengthen its roster around LeBron James and Luka Doncic.
While no active negotiations are underway, multiple sources told Fastbreak Journal that Holiday’s name “continues to surface” in NBA circles when discussing potential Lakers moves. The team is reportedly monitoring the situation closely in case Portland decides to move him.
Holiday, who was traded to the Trail Blazers from the Celtics this offseason, underwent medical evaluations that caused Portland to adjust the terms of their deal with Boston. The new findings were not deemed serious but prompted the removal of two future second-round picks from the agreement.
Even with the medical concerns, sources indicated that Holiday has not experienced any setbacks in his offseason routine and is expected to be fully ready for training camp. Portland still moved forward with the trade, sending Anfernee Simons to Boston in exchange for Holiday and keeping him under contract.
For the Lakers, adding a veteran like Holiday could address defensive needs and bring playoff experience to a roster already featuring stars at multiple positions. With limited draft capital after recent trades, any potential deal would likely require creativity and possibly involve a multi-team structure.
Other franchises are reportedly monitoring the situation, but the Lakers are seen as one of the most logical destinations if Portland explores trade options. Holiday averaged 11.1 points and 4.3 rebounds last season, while helping the Celtics alleviate luxury tax pressure by departing.
