Bradley Beal has joined the Los Angeles Clippers after agreeing on a buyout with the Phoenix Suns. The move positions the Clippers to maximize their final veteran minimum roster slot and has already begun to influence the broader free agent guard market.
NBA insider Marc Stein reported Wednesday that Beal’s arrival is expected to spark activity among remaining veteran guards, with Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Ben Simmons, and Malcolm Brogdon now drawing increased interest.
Beal, 32, was recently waived and chose Los Angeles as his preferred destination despite interest from multiple contenders. His addition could push the Clippers deeper into contention in the Western Conference and create ripple effects across the league.
Among the names impacted is Paul, who just finished an 82-game season with the San Antonio Spurs. At age 40, he averaged 8.8 points, 7.4 assists, and shot 92.4% from the free-throw line while maintaining elite playmaking.
Westbrook, who spent the season with the Denver Nuggets, also remains unsigned. He posted 13.3 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.9 rebounds over 75 games and continues to provide energy and leadership despite questions about efficiency.
Simmons, who split last season between the Nets and Clippers, remains a defensive specialist and playmaker. He averaged 5.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists in 51 games, though his offensive output stayed limited.
Brogdon is also in the mix, having been linked to the New York Knicks and Golden State Warriors. He played 24 games for the Wizards this past season, averaging 12.7 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.8 rebounds in 23.5 minutes per game.
The Clippers still have one minimum deal available, and Beal’s commitment is expected to accelerate decisions for the rest of the veteran guard class. Teams across the league are now watching closely as this next wave of signings takes shape heading into training camp.
