In an offseason defined by bold moves, one of the most intriguing signings came when Myles Turner chose to join forces with two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee.
And if you ask Turner, it’s a collaboration he’s been secretly hoping for – especially after years of physical battles.
“I was tired of taking damned shoulders and elbows to the chest all the time,” the newcomer laughed, reflecting on his many matchups against Giannis over the years.
“It’s a rarity to be alongside him. He’s a generational player, arguably one of the greatest to ever play this game.”
While the move may surprise some, Turner said it felt natural.
“I’ve played against Giannis for quite some time now. I know what he brings. He can push the ball, get out in transition, create looks for others. He’s even developed that jumper now. That makes him even more dangerous.”
The player emphasized that their defensive synergy will be just as valuable.
“His intangibles on defense, man – they’re there. We’re going to complement each other really well.”
Turner has played 10 seasons for the Pacers. He has averaged 14.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in 642 regular-season games.
