Despite leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to a strong season and winning Coach of the Year last season, Kenny Atkinson could reportedly face uncertainty if Cleveland suffers another disappointing playoff exit against the Detroit Pistons.

Clutch Points reporter Brett Siegel suggested that an early postseason collapse may force the organization to seriously reconsider both the roster construction and Atkinson’s long-term future.

“If they kind of flame out as they have in past seasons in this second round series, there’s going to be major question marks about what the future of this roster looks like and, more importantly, what Kenny Atkinson’s future with Cavaliers looks like,” he said.

The pressure surrounding the matchup is expected to be enormous on both sidelines, with The Athletic’s Jason Lloyd noting that the losing coach could be dealing with a difficult offseason full of criticism and speculation.
