Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Jimmy Haslam said Wednesday that the organization hopes to resolve Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future within the next six or seven weeks, potentially before next month’s NBA draft.

“Sometime over the next six or seven weeks, we’ll decide whether Giannis is going to sign a max contract and stay with us, or he’s going to play somewhere else,” Haslam said.

“Jon and Taylor, along with Wes and myself will make that call, and we understand the gravity of that call.”

The Bucks can trade up to three first-round picks and three draft swaps this offseason if they decide to continue building aggressively around Antetokounmpo.

Haslam admitted the franchise must also prepare for the possibility of losing the two-time MVP.

“If Giannis does play somewhere else, we’ve got to have a lot of assets,” Haslam said. “That’s Jon’s job to do. And if he’s here, then you build the team differently.”

Antetokounmpo, 31, has repeatedly emphasized his desire to compete for championships. Milwaukee finished just 32-50 this season and missed the playoffs after nine straight postseason appearances.

The Bucks can offer Antetokounmpo a four-year, $275 million extension in October. If he does not sign, he could become a free agent in 2027.
