Sandro Mamukelashvili shared his thoughts on Friday about his decision to sign with the Toronto Raptors, highlighting the importance of international ties and a shared vision for growth.

He emphasized the value of playing under someone who understands his background and playing style: “Coach Darko is a European coach, understands European style of play,” Mamukelashvili said.

“A lot of young guys who want to get better, get to the next level together. Nothing better than to be part of something like that.”

Mamukelashvili, a 6’11” forward/center, also reflected on his early NBA journey, which has taken him through multiple teams as he looks for a more stable and impactful role.

Expressing his long-term aspirations, he said, “I really want to prove that I’m a rotational piece, that I can be in the NBA for 10 years and leave my mark somewhere.”

After appearing in 65 games with the Milwaukee Bucks early in his career, Mamukelashvili moved on to the San Antonio Spurs, where he spent the next two and a half seasons.

During the 2024/25 campaign, he contributed 6.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 11.2 minutes per game, while knocking down 37.3% of his three-point attempts.
