Former NBA forward/center Chimezie Metu is reportedly close to signing with Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce, per a report by Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews.com.

The deal, which is expected to be for one year, is contingent upon Metu successfully passing a medical examination.

The 28-year-old veteran has played in 260 NBA regular season games between 2018 and 2024, but his most recent season was cut short due to a torn Achilles suffered in March.

Given the severity of the injury, Fenerbahce is exercising caution, wanting to ensure that Metu’s rehabilitation is on track before making the signing official.

According to sources cited by Urbonas, Metu is optimistic about his recovery and is aiming to return to game action before the end of 2025.
