The Portland Trail Blazers and Boston Celtics have officially finalized a trade that sends veteran guard Jrue Holiday to Portland and rising star Anfernee Simons to Boston, as confirmed in an official statement released by the Trail Blazers.
Interestingly, the finalized deal differs slightly from earlier reports. Initially, Portland had agreed to include two second-round draft picks in the trade – one originally from the New York Knicks (2030) and another from the Blazers themselves (2031).
However, those draft picks have now been removed from the arrangement. As it stands, the deal has been simplified into a straight player-for-player exchange, with no additional draft compensation involved.
According to Aaron Fentress of The Oregonian, sources indicate that the Trail Blazers modified the terms after conducting a medical evaluation of Holiday.
While the assessment raised some flags that warranted a revision of the original agreement, it wasn’t serious enough to derail the trade altogether.
Fentress notes that Holiday is still viewed as healthy and remains actively training this summer in anticipation of joining the team at training camp in the fall.
