Free agent guard Anfernee Simons has agreed to a two-year, $12.3 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers that includes a player option for the second season, according to ESPN.

Simons reportedly chose Philadelphia over several other interested teams, believing he was the best fit for the 76ers’ revamped roster.

The veteran guard has averaged 18.8 points per game over the past five seasons and ranked sixth in the NBA in made three-pointers off the bench last season.

His scoring and perimeter shooting address key needs for Philadelphia after the team finished among the league’s bottom three in bench scoring and three-pointers made.

Simons’ agent, Bill Duffy of WME Basketball, informed the 76ers of his decision, adding another proven offensive weapon to Philadelphia’s backcourt.
