The Los Angeles Clippers could become a potential suitor for Bradley Beal if he negotiates a buyout with the Phoenix Suns, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
While the Clippers are expected to have interest should Beal become available, their ability to make a competitive offer is somewhat limited.
As Scotto points out, the team has only $5.3 million remaining from their non-taxpayer mid-level exception, which restricts how much they can put on the table in a bidding scenario.
Because of this financial constraint, the Clippers may not be able to offer Beal the kind of deal he could command elsewhere, unless he’s willing to prioritize fit or contendership over salary.
Beyond Beal, Los Angeles is also keeping tabs on other free agent guards, including Malcolm Brogdon and Chris Paul, both of whom could be more realistic targets given the team’s budget and roster needs.
The Clippers’ front office is clearly exploring multiple veteran options as they look to strengthen their backcourt and remain competitive in the Western Conference heading into next season.
