The Golden State Warriors have entered the growing list of teams showing interest in Damian Lillard, according to Sam Gordon of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Lillard, a nine-time All-Star, is set to become a free agent once the Milwaukee Bucks officially waive and stretch his contract to clear cap space for newly signed big man Myles Turner.

Golden State’s interest comes amid heavy competition, with the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers also monitoring Lillard’s situation closely. More than 10 teams are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing him once the waiver process is complete.

Lillard averaged 24.9 points and 7.1 assists during his two seasons with Milwaukee but saw his 2024–25 campaign end early after he tore his left Achilles tendon in the first round of the playoffs against the Indiana Pacers.

The Bucks decided to waive the veteran guard and stretch the remaining $113 million of his deal over five years, enabling them to offer Turner a four-year, $107 million contract.

For the Warriors, adding Lillard could strengthen their backcourt and extend their championship window alongside Stephen Curry. However, his recovery timeline — with a full return not expected until 2026 — complicates immediate impact.

One potential hurdle for all suitors is Lillard’s preference to stay in Portland during rehab to remain close to his family, which may delay his ability to fully integrate into a new team right away.
