The Sacramento Kings have been the strongest pursuer of Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga, but trade talks have yet to gain meaningful traction, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
Despite persistent interest from Sacramento, league sources told Slater that discussions over the weekend did not progress, as restricted free agency remains slow across the NBA.
Golden State is reportedly seeking a promising young player and a future first-round pick in exchange for Kuminga, a price the Kings have so far been unwilling to meet.
Sacramento’s most notable offer included rookie guard Devin Carter, veteran forward Dario Saric, and two second-round picks — a proposal Golden State declined, believing it undervalued Kuminga’s potential.
The 22-year-old forward averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists last season while shooting 45.4% from the field. He also posted 15.3 points per game in the 2025 playoffs, showcasing his ability in extended minutes.
Kuminga, now a restricted free agent after his rookie-scale contract expired, has drawn interest from several teams beyond the Kings.
The Washington Wizards, Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks, and Brooklyn Nets have all explored whether the athletic wing could fit into their plans, though no serious offers have materialized.
Golden State extended Kuminga a $7.9 million qualifying offer earlier this offseason, preserving the right to match any offer sheet he signs.
While Kuminga is reportedly open to a larger role elsewhere, sources maintain that his relationship with the Warriors remains positive, and a return to the Bay Area is still possible.
Golden State and Kuminga’s representatives are expected to meet during the Las Vegas Summer League to further discuss his future and potential role with the team.
For now, the Warriors appear content to wait for a stronger trade package or continue developing the former lottery pick internally as part of their roster.
