Milwaukee Bucks star guard Damian Lillard has suffered a torn left Achilles, per Shams Charania of ESPN, who reports that an MRI confirmed the full extent of the injury.

This development not only ends Lillard’s participation in the current postseason but also casts serious doubt on his availability for the start – and possibly a significant portion – of the 2025/26 season.

Achilles tears are among the most serious injuries in basketball, often requiring a lengthy and demanding recovery process.

It’s typical for players to miss 9–12 months, and even upon returning, regaining pre-injury form can take additional time.

Given that timeline, Lillard faces a challenging road ahead before he’s back on the court at full strength.
