Amid speculation that Austin Reaves does not enjoy sharing the court with Luka Doncic, Reaves’ agent has publicly denied the report.
Trevor Lane of Lakers Nation shared a statement on Friday from Reaves’ representative, Aaron Reilly of AMR Agency, addressing the situation directly.
“Austin has nothing but the utmost respect for Luka and truly enjoys playing alongside him. Any suggestion to the contrary is completely false,” Reilly said.
Reilly added, “He’s excited to be on the court with Luka—both now and in the future.”
The statement follows the February trade that sent Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and draft picks.
Since the blockbuster deal, Doncic has played 28 regular-season games in a Lakers uniform, averaging 28.2 points, 7.5 assists, and 8.1 rebounds per contest.
Reaves, who had averaged 19.3 points and 6.2 assists before the trade this past season, saw his increase after Doncic arrived.
In 28 games alongside Doncic, the guard has posted averages of 21.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.2 assists while still starting in the backcourt.
The Lakers’ postseason ended in the first round, falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games despite Doncic’s 30.2 playoff scoring average and Reaves contributing 16.2 points per game.
