The Golden State Warriors have identified veteran big man Al Horford as a key free agent target as they begin reshaping their roster.

With uncertainty surrounding Horford’s future in Boston, especially as the Celtics navigate contract restructuring and Jayson Tatum’s injury, the Warriors are preparing to pursue the 39-year-old center if he becomes available.

Horford is seen as an ideal fit in Golden State’s system due to his high basketball IQ, versatile defense, floor-spacing ability, and passing from the frontcourt – skills that complement the Warriors’ motion-heavy offense and need for veteran leadership.

While the Warriors are believed to be serious suitors, they are not alone in their interest.

The Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks have also been linked to Horford, suggesting that the five-time All-Star could have multiple competitive offers if he leaves Boston.

Horford, represented by agent Jason Glushon, continues to show his value on the court.

This past season with the Celtics, he averaged 9.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game, while connecting on 36.3% of his three-point attempts.

Despite his age, Horford remains a reliable contributor and respected locker room presence.

Whether Boston plans to retain Horford or pivot into a transitional season remains unclear.

But if the Celtics decide to move in a new direction, the Warriors are expected to make a strong push to bring Horford to the Bay Area.
