Dallas Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison has reaffirmed Jason Kidd’s position as head coach, ending speculation linking him to the New York Knicks’ ongoing search.

Speaking at a media session, Harrison said, “Yes. He will be the head coach next year,” in response to renewed rumors surrounding Kidd’s future, as shared by The Dallas Morning News’ Abby Jones on X.

Reportedly, the Knicks have not formally removed Kidd from their list of potential candidates. Despite Dallas previously denying permission to interview the coach.

Dallas finished 10th in the West with a 39–43 record and reached the final Play-In game before falling to Memphis. Kidd, under contract, is entering the final year of his current deal.

The Mavericks’ front office has not publicly indicated any intent to make a coaching change. Harrison’s comment was aimed directly at quelling outside speculation.

Meanwhile, the Knicks’ coaching search remains fluid. With top-tier candidates unavailable—Chicago and Atlanta blocked access to Donovan and Quin Snyder—New York has pivoted to developmental-minded coaches.

New York has recently interviewed former Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins and former Sacramento Kings head coach Mike Brown and are set to interview Minnesota Timberwolves assistant coach Micah Nori as well as New Orleans Pelicans associate head coach James Borrego.
