The Utah Jazz’s revamped front office is drawing on the expertise of former Jazz forward Carlos Boozer and veteran NBA guard Avery Bradley as they prepare for the upcoming NBA Draft on Wednesday and Thursday, according to Tony Jones of The Athletic.
Both Boozer and Bradley, who bring firsthand playing experience and a deep understanding of under-the-radar talent, are assisting the team in scouting and evaluation efforts.
Reflecting on the changes within the organization, Boozer shared with Jones how much the franchise has evolved since his playing days.
“This place has really transformed,” he said. “But, I want to do my part to build this team back up to being a contender, because that’s where this franchise belongs. I love this fan base and this town. It reminds me of my hometown in Alaska. So, this has been a huge honor, and it’s brought back so many memories.”
His connection to the community and passion for Jazz highlight his commitment to helping restore the team’s competitive stature.
Jones also points out that both Boozer and Bradley have experience as draft surprises themselves – players who were overlooked but went on to carve out strong NBA careers.
This perspective proves valuable in evaluating potential draft picks who may not be high-profile stars but possess the qualities needed to succeed at the next level.
Bradley emphasized the importance of their playing experience in the front office process: “I think having the perspective of being a player is helpful,” he explained.
“Seeing players that could model and resemble some of the players that we’ve played with and have been in locker rooms with helps. What Carlos and I have wanted to do is help Austin (Ainge) and Justin (Zanik) and Danny (Ainge) in the process.”
With Boozer and Bradley involved, the Jazz aim to use their insights to build a competitive team again.
