The Boston Celtics are reportedly willing to move every player on their roster except for Jayson Tatum, according to NBA insider Chris Mannix.
Speaking on The Kevin O’Connor Show, Mannix said, “Most recently—I’ve heard they’re open to trading anybody except for Tatum.” This statement follows Boston’s disappointing second-round playoff exit against the New York Knicks.
Despite finishing with the East’s second-best record at 61–21, the defending champions failed to return to the Eastern Conference Finals. Their postseason ended in six games after Tatum suffered a torn Achilles, which left the roster vulnerable against a surging Knicks squad.
Boston is reportedly now listening to offers for Jrue Holiday, who averaged 9.5 points and 4.0 assists during the playoffs. Holiday, 34, had previously expressed his desire to remain in Boston after joining the team in a high-profile trade last year.
Holiday still has three years left on his four-year, $134 million deal, including a player option. However, the Celtics’ front office appears to be recalibrating their roster strategy as they look to stay under the NBA’s restrictive new collective bargaining tax thresholds.
While Jaylen Brown may not be on the trade block yet, the franchise could look to move Derrick White, who is entering the first year of a four-year, $128 million extension.
White’s future with the team is uncertain as the Celtics weigh their long-term financial flexibility. Even if Boston keeps White, other pieces—such as Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, or Sam Hauser—could be dealt to manage payroll concerns.
The Celtics are also limited by future luxury tax penalties under the league’s new financial structure, which puts increased pressure on franchises with multiple high-salary contracts.
