Yossi Gozlan of ThirdApron.com believes it’s unlikely that the Boston Celtics will entertain trade discussions involving Jaylen Brown, one of the team’s core stars.

However, Gozlan suggests that the next year could represent the most strategic window for the franchise to consider moving Derrick White.

White is about to enter a new four-year contract extension worth $128 million – a significant financial commitment that may impact the team’s cap flexibility moving forward.

If Boston ultimately chooses to keep White on the roster, Gozlan argues that the team can still meet its financial targets and maintain flexibility under the NBA’s increasingly punitive luxury tax system.

To do so, the Celtics would need to seriously consider parting ways with other high-value players, such as Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, and Sam Hauser.

Trading one or more of those pieces could help the organization better navigate the financial pressures of roster construction in the new collective bargaining landscape.
