Trey Murphy III has emerged as a potential trade target ahead of the 2026 NBA Draft, with multiple contending teams monitoring his availability, according to a report from Evan Sidery on Sunday, June 7.

Sidery reported that the Boston Celtics, Indiana Pacers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Portland Trail Blazers are among the teams considering an aggressive approach to acquire the 25-year-old wing.

Murphy completed a strong 2025-26 regular season with the New Orleans Pelicans, producing 21.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game across 66 appearances, all as a starter.

He shot 47.0% from the field and 37.9% from three-point range on 8.6 attempts per game, adding value as a high-volume perimeter scorer with efficiency across multiple levels.

Murphy, 25, is entering a pivotal phase of his contract situation, with three years remaining on a four-year, $112 million deal. That contract structure adds long-term control for any acquiring team while also raising the cost of a potential trade package.

From a roster-building perspective, Murphy’s combination of size and spacing fits a variety of contending structures. His 3.2 made threes per game and 88.6% free throw shooting highlight his shooting reliability in late-game settings.
