This week, cap experts Keith Smith of Spotrac and Yossi Gozlan of The Third Apron each released detailed breakdowns of what promises to be a pivotal offseason for the Orlando Magic.

Among the most significant storylines is the looming rookie scale extension for All-Star forward Paolo Banchero, who is eligible for a long-term deal that could potentially approach max contract territory.

As Banchero continues to establish himself as the franchise cornerstone, securing his future will be a top priority.

Both analysts also examined how Orlando’s payroll is expected to rise in the coming seasons, with several young players entering new contract phases.

The Magic currently have ample financial flexibility, but decisions made this summer – including a potential Banchero extension and new contracts for other core players could significantly reshape their cap outlook moving forward.

In addition to contract matters, Orlando has two first-round picks in the 2025 NBA Draft: the 16th and 25th overall selections.

Smith and Gozlan both explored how the Magic might approach those picks – whether they’ll look to add more young talent to their already deep roster, or explore packaging those selections in a trade to move up in the draft or acquire veteran help.

With a playoff appearance under their belt and a core of young talent in place, the Magic’s front office faces a defining offseason that could determine how soon they can rise into true contention in the Eastern Conference.
