When Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid was officially ruled out for the season on February 28 due to his injured left knee, the team immediately announced that they would be collaborating with him to develop a comprehensive rehabilitation and treatment plan to address the injury.
As the weeks have passed, it now appears that a final decision regarding his recovery is nearing.
Sixers head coach Nick Nurse provided an update, revealing that Embiid is either finished or very close to finishing consultations with medical specialists about the best course of action for his injury.
“I don’t want to speak definitively – I think he’s done seeing all the specialists,” Nurse explained.
“There may be one or two more visits, but those are more for follow-up discussions. I’ve just caught up on everything today. But yeah, I think it’s kind of, like, decision time. There are so many different opinions to consider, and we’re in the process of weighing all those options. So we’re at the point where it’s almost time for him to make a decision on the path he’ll choose. We’re just not there yet.”
In essence, the process has been thorough and meticulous, but it seems that Embiid is now close to determining the next steps in his rehabilitation and whether surgery, rest, or another approach will be part of his recovery.
The decision, which could have a major impact on the future of the 76ers, is expected to come soon, but it is still being carefully considered.
