Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. snapped out of an extended shooting slump in Wednesday’s victory, finishing with 23 points on only nine field goal attempts, hitting seven of those shots, including an impressive 6-of-8 from beyond the arc.
After the game, Porter explained that a persistent hamstring injury had contributed to his shooting struggles. His three-point percentage has dipped to 33.3% since the All-Star break, a noticeable drop from the 41.7% he had posted in 52 games prior to the break.
A more reliable and steady version of Porter will be crucial in the postseason for the Nuggets to have a legitimate shot at securing another championship in 2025.
Troy Renck of The Denver Post highlighted that when Porter isn’t making shots, his presence can be more of a hindrance than a help to the team, emphasizing the importance of his offensive consistency for Denver’s title hopes.
