Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas is expected to miss the remainder of the regular season after suffering a left hamstring strain, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto.

The injury occurred during Thursday night’s game against the Chicago Bulls, further complicating a tough season for Brooklyn. Thomas, 23, has been averaging a career-high 24 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists in 31.2 minutes per game.

Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez praised Thomas for his contributions, emphasizing his growth and impact on the team. “Cam’s been great for the group. He’s worked every single day. He’s built relationships. We all know his superpower of being a very good scorer,” Fernandez said.

“The way we played through him, I thought the team was playing at a high level,” Fernandez added. “We’ll go through the summer together. We have a plan in place. The plan is going to be a team that wins consistently, and we’re going to get there together.”

Thomas is in the final year of his four-year, $10 million rookie contract and will become a restricted free agent this summer. His injury raises questions about his future with Brooklyn as the team evaluates its direction.

The Nets, currently 13th in the Eastern Conference with a 22-45 record, trail the 10th-seed Chicago Bulls by six games. With a 1-9 record in their last ten games, their postseason hopes are virtually nonexistent.

Brooklyn will now have to finish the season without its top scorer, shifting focus toward the offseason and roster decisions ahead.
