New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson is expected to miss at least another few weeks as he recovers from an ankle injury, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.
Appearing on ESPN, Charania reported that Brunson’s recovery is following a three-to-four-week timeline, which could keep him sidelined until late March or early April. The Knicks are prioritizing his long-term health with the playoffs approaching.
“The key for the Knicks and Jalen Brunson is keeping that swelling down in that ankle, getting it lower and then increasing the mobility,” Charania said. “They know they need to get him right for the playoffs.”
Brunson, 28, suffered the injury during an overtime loss to the Lakers on March 6. He has been instrumental for the Knicks this season, averaging 26.3 points, 3 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game.
New York currently holds the third seed in the Eastern Conference with a 42-24 record but has gone 5-5 in its last ten games. His absence will test the team’s depth as it pushes for home-court advantage in the playoffs.
With a crucial stretch of games ahead, the Knicks will look to manage without their leading scorer while ensuring he returns fully healthy for the postseason.
