Kristaps Porzingis has remained sidelined since February 26 due to an undisclosed illness, missing his sixth consecutive game for the Boston Celtics on Monday.
During the team’s matchup against the Utah Jazz in Boston, Porzingis took to social media to provide an update on his condition, explaining that he has been battling a viral illness that doctors have yet to fully diagnose.
Despite the uncertainty, he reassured fans that he is on the mend and steadily recovering, though he is still working toward regaining full strength before making his return to the court.
“I have been dealing with some viral illness that we haven’t been able to fully identify yet,” Porzingis wrote. “I am recovering and getting better. But still working my way back to full [strength] to help this team. Thanks for support and [I’m] hoping for a healthy return soon.”
This is not the first time Porzingis has had to endure an extended absence this season.
He previously missed the opening month of the campaign after undergoing offseason surgery to address a rare tendon injury in his ankle, which he sustained during last season’s NBA Finals.
Now, as the Celtics continue their push for the postseason, they await his return in hopes of having him back at full capacity for the stretch run.
