Houston Rockets forward Amen Thompson is set to undergo an MRI to assess the severity of an injury to his left ankle.
The young standout was seen departing the arena with his foot in a protective walking boot and relying on crutches for support following Houston’s dominant win over the New Orleans Pelicans.
Thompson sustained the injury during the game when he elevated for a pull-up jumper but came down awkwardly on the foot of Pelicans big man Karlo Matkovic.
After the game, Rockets head coach Ime Udoka addressed the media but was unable to provide any updates regarding Thompson’s condition.
Throughout the season, the Rockets have utilized Thompson as a dynamic and versatile playmaker, capable of guarding all five positions on the court.
He has been featured in the starting lineup in various roles, either as a power forward or filling in at point guard for the injured Fred VanVleet.
In his second year, Thompson has made significant strides, enjoying a breakout campaign with impressive averages of 14.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game.
