San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker will compete for France in July’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament, despite the impending arrival of his baby the same month.

France are due to play in Manila, Philippines on July 5-10 for the Olympic Qualifiers with the winner of the tournament advancing to the Rio Olympics, which are being played between August 5-21.

“We talked a lot with Axelle and we agreed. She knows how important it is to me,” Parker told French newspaper L’Equipe. “And so yes, I’ll be there for OQT and I will be in the Olympics if we qualify. I want to play for France.”

France will play the hosts and Canada in their opening games of the Qualifiers.

Parker averaged 15.7 points per game at the London Olympics four years ago, but France was eliminated by Spain in the quarter-finals.
