According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, several cap strategists believe it’s likely that Naz Reid will decline his $15 million player option this offseason, as he seeks a more lucrative, long-term contract.

However, Fischer notes that teams like Cleveland, Dallas, and San Antonio, which expressed interest in Reid the last time he was close to free agency, may now be less inclined to pursue him.

The Cavaliers and Mavericks have both added new frontcourt players since then, which could make Reid less of a priority for their rosters.

Meanwhile, the Spurs, who were originally hoping to add a floor-spacing center to complement Victor Wembanyama, have since shifted their approach by playing Wembanyama at the center position, further decreasing the likelihood of Reid joining their team.

As a result, Reid’s market could be impacted by these shifts in team needs.
