Olympiacos went to the top of the Greek league table after thrashing rivals Panathinaikos 80-66 in Piraeus.

Veteran Vassilis Spanoulis led Olympiacos with 17 points and eight assists, Daniel Hackett added 16 as they ended Panathinaikos’ 14-game winning run.

Both teams are locked at 14-1 in the league, three games ahead of third place AEK Athens who secured a 90-82 win against a stubborn Lavrio side, struggling near the foot of the table.

Jure Zdovc’s men though pulled through to maintain third spot as Dimitrios Mavroeidis paced AEK with 21 points off the bench.

Aris eased past second from bottom Arkadikos 86-52 to stay in fourth spot as they raced to a 43-24 lead at the half and were comfortable from there.

Dominic Waters had 17 points for Aris.

Basement side Kavala claimed only their third win of the campaign after beating mid-table Trikala comfortably 90-72.

After a narrow first quarter, Kavala broke the game open in the second to take a 41-32 lead which they built as the game progressed. Christos Tapoutos and Leon Williams were outstanding with 27 and 20 points each for the bottom side.

Around the league, AGOR won at home, 95-87 against Kolossos, mid-table Nia Kifsia scored a vital 97-82 win over PAOK and Apollon Patras edged Koroivos 59-58.
