Shai Gilgeous-Alexander showcased his scoring and playmaking abilities as the Oklahoma City Thunder routed the Brooklyn Nets 127-101 on Sunday night.

Gilgeous-Alexander, the NBA’s leading scorer, returned after missing a game due to a sprained right wrist. He tallied 27 points, 10 assists, and four steals in just three quarters, shooting 8-for-14 from the field and a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line.

Isaiah Joe added 24 points for Oklahoma City, making an impressive eight 3-pointers on 10 attempts. The Thunder, who lead the Western Conference with a 35-7 record, clinched head coach Mark Daigneault’s spot as an All-Star coach.

The Thunder set the tone early, hitting nine 3-pointers in the first quarter to take a commanding 39-19 lead. By halftime, Oklahoma City had extended their lead to 69-49, with Gilgeous-Alexander and Joe contributing 15 points each.

Brooklyn struggled offensively, shooting just 42.5% from the field and 27.9% from beyond the arc. Cam Johnson and Tyrese Martin led the Nets with 15 points each, but their efforts weren’t enough to prevent Brooklyn’s eighth loss in nine games.

Defensively, Oklahoma City continued to shine, reinforcing their league-best defensive rating. They forced 13 turnovers and held Brooklyn to limited scoring opportunities.

Jalen Williams and Isaiah Hartenstein missed the game for the Thunder due to injuries, but Daigneault’s ability to adapt shone through once again. Key contributions from role players like Jaylin Williams, who scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds, further highlighted Oklahoma City’s depth.

The Nets, now 14-29, face challenges in building momentum as they navigate through injuries and inconsistent performances. D’Angelo Russell contributed nine points and seven assists, but the team’s offensive struggles remain a concern.
