Jaren Jackson Jr. delivered a standout performance with 35 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists to lead the Memphis Grizzlies (24-13) to a 119-104 victory over the Dallas Mavericks (20-16) on Monday night. The win marked Memphis’ 10th in the last 11 home games.
Despite early struggles, the Grizzlies dominated in the second half. Jackson’s scoring explosion, along with contributions from Scotty Pippen Jr. (18 points) and Jaylen Wells (17 points, 11 rebounds), helped Memphis overcome a tough first quarter.
The Mavericks, already missing their stars Luka Doncic (calf strain) and Kyrie Irving (back injury), faced even more challenges. They also lost Daniel Gafford to a left ankle sprain in the second quarter, further depleting their lineup.
P.J. Washington led Dallas with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Naji Marshall added 16 points, while Klay Thompson and Jaden Hardy contributed 15 points each. However, the Mavericks struggled without their top scorers, extending their losing streak to five games.
Memphis’ dominance in the paint proved key, with the Grizzlies scoring 52 points inside and outrebounding Dallas 55-50. The team’s physicality and rebounding prowess, including 13 offensive boards, gave them a significant edge over the undermanned Mavericks.
Jackson’s efficient 13-of-23 shooting from the field was complemented by his leadership on both ends of the court. Memphis turned things around after a rough start, improving their offensive control throughout the final three quarters.
While the Grizzlies were also missing Ja Morant and Desmond Bane due to injuries, the performance of Jackson and his teammates highlighted the depth of the roster. Jackson’s ability to step up in a challenging game underscored his importance to Memphis’ success.
Dallas struggled with its shooting efficiency, finishing the game at 40.8% from the field and 36.1% from three-point range.
