Former NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins made a bold prediction about Victor Wembanyama during an appearance on FanDuel TV’s Run It Back.

Speaking with co-hosts Michelle Beadle, Lou Williams, and Chandler Parsons, Cousins stated that the 21-year-old San Antonio Spurs star has the potential to become the greatest defensive player of all time.

“This is something we’ve never seen before in this sport,” Cousins said, highlighting Wembanyama’s unprecedented impact on both ends of the court. He added, “At minimum, Wemby will be the greatest defensive player of all time. Minimum. I’m calling that now. The sky’s the limit for this kid.”

Wembanyama, who was named Rookie of the Year last season, has already solidified himself as a rising force in the NBA. This season, he is averaging 25.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 3.9 blocks per game in 33.1 minutes.

His ability to impact the game defensively is particularly remarkable, as he finished second in last year’s Defensive Player of the Year voting, trailing only Rudy Gobert.

The 7-foot-4 phenom has redefined defensive versatility with his combination of length, agility, and instincts. Wembanyama’s shot-blocking and rim-protection have earned widespread recognition, but his ability to guard multiple positions sets him apart.
