Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. has recently been at the center of trade rumors linking him to a potential package for Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine. However, Porter Jr. has downplayed the speculation, citing assurances from the team.

“They’ve reached out to me and said it’s all noise,” Porter Jr. said, via DNVR Nuggets. “There’s nothing serious going on. They have no desire to move me right now. But I also know they wouldn’t tell me if they wanted to move me.”

The 26-year-old forward is averaging 18.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game this season while logging 34.4 minutes per contest. Porter Jr. is in the third year of a five-year, $179 million contract, making him a key asset for Denver.

Despite the rumors, the Nuggets appear committed to keeping their core intact. Denver is currently fifth in the Western Conference with a 16-11 record and is exploring ways to bolster its roster ahead of the trade deadline.

The Nuggets’ front office has remained tight-lipped about its trade deadline plans, though rumors suggest they are exploring options to complement their All-Star duo of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. For now, Porter Jr. looks set to remain a significant part of Denver.

As the February 6 trade deadline approaches, it remains to be seen whether the Nuggets will stand pat or make a major move. Porter Jr.’s performance and versatility make him a valuable piece, but the lure of adding a proven scorer like LaVine could tempt Denver into making a blockbuster deal.
