Dariq Whitehead, the Brooklyn Nets’ 2023 first-round draft pick, has only made three appearances in NBA games this season.
While some young players might find the lack of immediate playing time frustrating, Whitehead has adopted a positive and proactive attitude.
Rather than viewing his current situation as a setback, he’s embraced his time with the NBA G League’s Long Island Nets as a valuable opportunity to grow and develop his game.
Playing in the G League has allowed him to gain consistent minutes, refine his skills, and build confidence in a competitive environment.
Speaking with Eric Slater of Clutch Points (via NetsDaily.com), Whitehead explained his perspective: “I was very clear with my agent that I needed to continue to play.
“I knew we had some guys that were injured, some older guys, and I knew they were gonna come back and get back in the rotation. So I was very adamant with my agent that I needed to go back down to the G League and play. That was a big boost for me.”
