Victor Wembanyama delivered another dominant performance as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 114-94 on Saturday night. The French center scored 30 points and tied his career high with 10 blocks, leading the Spurs to their fourth consecutive victory over the Blazers.
San Antonio controlled the game from start to finish. Wembanyama also contributed seven rebounds, further showcasing his all-around game. The Spurs built a large lead, allowing Wembanyama to sit out the final 8.5 minutes of the game.
Charles Bassey added a double-double for San Antonio, contributing 16 points and 12 rebounds. Devin Vassell finished with 11 points, while Jeremy Sochan had 10 points and five assists. As a team, the Spurs shot 47.3% from the field and 88.9% from the free-throw line, a key factor in their comfortable win.
Portland, who snapped a six-game losing streak with a victory over Denver earlier in the week, struggled with their shooting. The Blazers shot just 39.6% from the field and 27.9% from beyond the arc.
Shaedon Sharpe was the leading scorer for Portland with 25 points, while Anfernee Simons added 18 points. Despite their efforts, the Blazers could not overcome San Antonio’s dominant performance.
San Antonio’s victory marked their second consecutive win and pushed their record to 15-13. This is a significant improvement for the Spurs, who did not secure their 15th win last season until March 17. With the win, San Antonio continued their strong form, having won four of their last five games.
The Trail Blazers, now 9-19, have lost nine of their last 11 games. Portland’s shooting struggles, particularly from three-point range (12-for-43), proved costly in this matchup.
