According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, league executives view Charlotte Hornets guard Vasilije Micic as a potential trade candidate.
The 30-year-old EuroLeague veteran has struggled to find a consistent role in Charlotte’s crowded backcourt, making him a name to watch as trade season approaches.
Micic, a two-time EuroLeague champion and former MVP, is averaging 5.6 points, 3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 17.8 minutes per game this season.
His contract, which pays him $7.72 million this year with a team option for $8.11 million next season, makes him a viable option for teams seeking an experienced playmaker.
With Tre Mann taking most of the backup point guard minutes for Charlotte, Micic’s opportunities have been limited. His skill set, however, is still highly regarded across the league, particularly for teams looking to bolster their bench depth or add a steady veteran presence.
Micic joined the NBA last season after a decorated career overseas, including winning the EuroLeague title with Anadolu Efes in 2021 and 2022.
Known for his court vision and shooting ability, he was widely considered one of the best international players not yet in the NBA before signing with the Hornets.
Despite his accolades, Charlotte’s roster configuration has made it difficult for Micic to carve out a larger role. The team has leaned heavily on its younger guards, leaving the Serbian playmaker in a rotational spot.
