Chris Boucher struggled to maintain a consistent role in the Raptors’ rotation last season, finding himself in and out of the lineup. However, he returned this season with a clear goal: to prove himself as a dependable bench player.
And so far, he has done just that, posting an average of 9.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.0 block in 17.3 minutes per game.
Reflecting on his journey, Boucher shared, “I think there was a lot of stuff that I was doing that I kept saying I gotta do better, but I never changed it,” in an interview with Josh Lewenberg of TSN.
“Obviously, when things are going well and you’re playing all the time you [think], well, I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing. But by the time I wasn’t playing, I was like, all right, well, now I’ve gotta figure it out or I won’t be here no more.”
With his current contract expiring, Boucher will be an unrestricted free agent next summer, adding extra motivation for him to continue improving.
