LeBron James is set to embark on his 22nd NBA season, marking a significant milestone as he joins forces with his eldest son, Bronny.
Bronny was selected 55th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in this summer’s draft. LeBron reflected on the unique experience of sharing the court with his son during a recent interview on “GoJo and Golic.”
He stated, “I think it’s one of the greatest things in the world to be able to work with your kid.”
During their first professional training session together, LeBron found himself occasionally distracted by watching Bronny.
“I was just looking to the side, watching him prepare and watching him go after it,” he shared, expressing excitement for the upcoming season.
LeBron emphasized the importance of this moment, indicating it will be an unforgettable year for both him and Bronny.
With Bronny’s presence, LeBron anticipates a shift in his mindset this season.
“I think it’s going to give me a sense of enjoying the moment a little bit more,” he explained.
In the past, LeBron’s intense focus on training and preparation sometimes made it difficult to appreciate the journey.
Now, he hopes to take moments to reflect on the significance of playing alongside his son.
“Sometimes you can lose track of some of the things that happen throughout the course of the season where you should celebrate,” LeBron said.
Despite facing scrutiny during Bronny’s college career at USC, LeBron remains supportive.
Bronny averaged 4.8 points per game in 19.3 minutes, ranking as the eighth-leading scorer on his team.
Critics have questioned the legitimacy of Bronny’s draft position, suggesting nepotism influenced the decision.
His Summer League performance also raised eyebrows, as he averaged 8.8 points per game with 35.0% shooting from the field.
LeBron, however, focuses on the positive aspects of this opportunity rather than the criticisms.
He is eager to witness Bronny’s growth as a player and individual in the NBA.
“I hope for him to have an unbelievable year as well,” LeBron added, showing his fatherly pride.
