The Memphis Grizzlies have waived Mamadi Diakite, ending his short tenure with the team.
The move was confirmed by NBA insider Shams Charania, who noted that Diakite was acquired from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Ziaire Williams.
Diakite’s time with the Grizzlies comes after a challenging season in which he struggled to find playing time.
Last season, Diakite appeared in just three regular-season games for the New York Knicks, where he did not score. His limited role continued in the playoffs, where he averaged less than a point in 3.7 minutes per game across four appearances.
Diakite also appeared in 18 G League games last season, averaging 14.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 27.5 minutes per game.
Diakite’s journey in the NBA has been marked by brief stints with several teams, including the Milwaukee Bucks, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
