Kyle Guy has announced his retirement from professional basketball at the age of 26 and will join the Virginia coaching staff.

Guy, who recently played for Lenovo Tenerife, had a standout performance with 34 points in a playoff game against FC Barcelona. He previously played in Europe for Joventut Badalona and Panathinaikos.

During his European career, Guy averaged 12.8 points per game in Spain’s Liga ACB and made an impact in the EuroLeague with Panathinaikos.

In his professional career, Guy was known for his impactful performances, including a career-high 42 points in the G League and a notable stint with the Miami Heat.

He was originally drafted by the New York Knicks in 2019 but was traded to the Sacramento Kings, where he made his NBA debut in January 2020.

Guy’s college career at Virginia was highlighted by leading the Cavaliers to a national championship in 2019, where he was named the NCAA Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
