The Portland Trail Blazers are expected to trade either Jerami Grant or Anfernee Simons before the start of the season.

This move is part of the team’s ongoing rebuild efforts.

Aaron Fentress reported that the goal is to trade one of these top scorers before training camp begins.

Fentress noted, via HoopsHype, “I would be surprised if Jerami (Grant) or Anfernee Simons, that one of the two is not moved.”

The Trail Blazers are focused on building around Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe.

“Making it clear that Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe are the centerpieces of the rebuild means you gotta move Anfernee,” Fentress explained.

Simons, who has two years left on his four-year, $100 million contract, averaged 22.6 points last season.

“If they don’t start Anfernee, he’s gonna probably demand a trade,” Fentress added.

Grant, with four years remaining on his five-year, $160 million contract, averaged 21 points per game last season.

“Grant doesn’t want to waste his 30s on a team that’s actively tanking again,” Fentress said.

The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly among teams interest in Grant.
