Dwane Casey has declined the Los Angeles Lakers’ offer to join their coaching staff.

The Lakers, seeking experienced coaches to support rookie head coach JJ Redick, approached Casey, who is currently with the Detroit Pistons’ front office.

Despite being a top target, Casey has chosen not to pursue the Lakers’ opportunity.

Dave McMenamin reports that sources confirmed to ESPN that Casey decided against relocating his family at this time.

Casey has been in the coaching industry for nearly 30 years, including head coaching positions with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Toronto Raptors, and Detroit Pistons.

The 2018 Coach of the Year, Casey is known for his extensive experience and leadership.

The Lakers, who missed out on Klay Thompson and Jonas Valanciunas in free agency, are under pressure to strengthen their roster and coaching staff.

Casey’s refusal adds another challenge for the Lakers as they look to build a strong support system for Redick.

The Lakers continue to explore other options to enhance their coaching team.

The team’s goal is to provide Redick with experienced mentors to navigate his first season as head coach.

Casey’s experience with multiple NBA teams and his coaching accolades made him an attractive candidate.
